NAARI - "woman" in Hindi

Elephant Parade, was organized by the Elephant Family in Mumbai in March 2017 and in London 2018 to raise awareness and funds for conservation of elephant corridors in Asia. As a part of the parade, numerous elephant sculptures were displayed and later auctioned for the same charity. I had the opportunity of creating one installation for each parade. Naari was painted in Mumbai and displayed in London.
DESCRIPTION
She represents women, who blend so well with the intricacies of the culture, the architecture, the patterns of society, yet strive to find a moment to seek a breath of fresh air! Every morning, when the sun rises is an opportunity to relive the same story with a different thought. Take a minute to notice, the colours, the patterns, the dreams, woven into each other seamlessly.
TREATMENT
Every detail is hand drawn & hand painted. The back is a ornate tessellation pattern, whereas the eyes, trunk & the feet are painted in a realistic fashion.
